One thing about reel cutters -- I used to use one on my lawn. It worked
okay, except if some weed managed to grow up really tall. Then the reel
would push the weed over instead of pulling it against the blade. You could
go over and over the tall weeds and never cut them. You would have a nice
smooth lawn, with a bunch of tall weeds sticking up. Yuck. If you had a
robot cutting all the time you might be able to avoid this, but it's not
my favorite method.
